Three of the Best Tough Android Phones Today

By Nick Sachs

Very important tools in our lives today are the Smartphones, which have become even more important than we need PC's or notebooks. They will be the one to keep us connected to the people close to us wherever we go since they are with us. Since we use them always, there is a good tendency that we can accidentally drop them or we spill the cup of coffee all over them, or we drop them in sand at the beach, and other clumsiness which we might have with our phones. Our phones can become damaged beyond repair just from one little random accident like that. The worse which can happen is that we may lose our contact data and any other data like the multimedia. So that you can basically protect them against the environment and small accidents, the best thing to do for me is to have these phones built like tanks.

Basically, the very first Android Smartphone was released last year. The Motorola DEFY was priced around $300. It has a great construction. The features included an 800 MHz OMAP 3610 chip (Cortex A8) with PowerVR SGX530 GPU, 2 GB internal storage, 3.7? display with an 854480 resolution, and 512 MB RAM.

We have 3 contenders in the rugged Smartphone space this year. It includes the Samsung Galaxy Xcover, the sequel to DEFY, the Motorola DEFY+, and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Active. Let us discuss in details each of the features of these phones.

Actually, there is not any big difference between Motorola DEFY+ and the original DEFY. However the newer one has clocked at 1 GHz, a 25% faster CPU and it comes with Android 2.3. On the other hand, Samsung can be like Motorola which are making also rugged phones. However, they haven't really made a rugged Android Smartphone, so this one is their first. It has been seen that Sony Ericsson is seeing the potential of these rugged Smartphones as well so they want to enter this market.

Not putting into consideration the price, most love rugged android is Motorola DEFY+, for me and is the best among all three. Personally speaking, its best feature is its good Cortex A8 CPU, with a large enough resolution (854480) that allows you to play most 3D games out there, and for its 3.7?, it's very compact. When you compare it to the other 3.2? phones out there, it can come a lot smaller. Its battery can be huge, at 1700 mAh. Motorola already has some of the best talk-time in phones, so if you care a lot about battery life in phones, this one is for you.
