Android Operating System Question and Answer.

By Clint Townson

Advertising for the Google phone is widespread nationally and you've probably seen several advertisements. Until now you haven't learned much about the new Google phones. The Android Operating System is the primary OS used in Google's new "smart phone". The similarities between other phones and the google phone end there.

An informed decision must be made before choosing a phone using the Android OS. Google phones and Android phones are considered smart phones, this is good news in today's society! Look out iPhone and Blackberry there's a new kid in town, Google phones taking on the smart phone world! Here is some more Android OS trivia that you might be interested in.

Did you know that people who use phones that run the Android OS (operating system) are less likely to pay for applications than users of the iPhone? Studies have shown that roughly fifty percent of all iPhone users will gladly pay for the apps they can't find for free. This study also shows that only one in five people who use the Android phones will buy applications. While this will probably change some when the paid application section of the Android market gets bigger, for now, iPhone users are less financially responsible than Android users. This might not seem like something to brag about but some people are very proud of this!

Enthuisiasts for the brand make up a large part of the iPhone population. They purchased the iPhone not because of features or functions but because it was created by Apple. Apple's consumers amount to a very large number of loyal product enthuisiasts.

Believe it or not, the Android OS is based on the Linux OS. Linux is an open source operating system that people use instead of Windows or Mac OSes. There are a lot of rumors about why Google found the OS so intriguing. Everybody knows that Google and Microsoft are rivals. Is it any wonder that the powers that be at Google would be so quick to buy a system that promised to be a major competitor for Windows? Perhaps the biggest bonus to using a Linux-based OS is that everybody is allowed to develop new uses, versions and upgrades for the system. This allows the company to keep their costs low and their profits sky high.

Being able to multi-task between applications is a major selling point that helps Android compete against the crazily popular iPhones. The iPhone can operate any of the base features simultaneously: phone, iPod, internet, or one of the apps that you have downloaded. In terms of multi-tasking that's about all you can do with the iPhone. The Android phones, however, can run multiple apps with no problems at all.

Android phones are all over the world. Do you know if your phone is using the Android OS? If you are using a Blackberry or and iPhone you are not likely using the Android Operating System, however most other phones do.

That is because many providers began implementing the open source Android OS in 2007 after it's premier. How many of you reading this are using the same phone you used in 2007?
