Why Families are Ditching Their Landlines for Smart phones Like the LG Thrill

By Gareth Jale

According to the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics, more families are ditching their landlines than ever before. In 2007, only 13.6% of homes relied solely on cell phones. As of 2010, that number increased to 26.6% of families. There are even experts who believe that landline smart phones are soon on their way out. With smart phones available to consumers, many people don't see the need for an additional home phone line.

There is more than 1 reason as to why consumers are ditching their home phones. One of the reasons is cut costs. Almost everyone nowadays has a smart phone. There are even some children who receive mobile phones as soon as they are able to use them. With each family member carrying their own personal cell phone, there isn't usually a need for a home phone line. The fact is most families refuse to pay for any unnecessary service. Young adults are even less likely to pay for a landline. Young adults who go away to college or move out of their parents homes will almost always get a smart phone before they invest in a landline phone.

Smart phones also offer a more inexpensive way to call. Smart phones are more inexpensive than basic cellphones. The thing with smart phones is that you get most of the features for free and the only thing that you are really paying for is the calling, text and data service. When using this device, most users will also purchase cell phone accessories like a case and a screen protector. By leaving your old hose phone behind you will also be cutting down and making your bills more affordable.

Cost is not the only culprit behind the reasons as to why people are making this switch. Many smart phone users simply feel like owning a landline is unnecessary. In most homes, landlines are used to keep in touch with friends, family, and neighbors. However, smart phones allow users to stay connected to friends and family, even when they aren't home. A smart phone offers voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, and other popular services.

There are even some features that are not offered at home. When using this smart phone, consumers can play games, browse the internet, listen to their favorite songs, take pictures, download useful apps, and communicate with friends and family. The bottom line is that mobile devices have multiple uses that make them simply put, better than other devices. When using a certain LG accessories, like a car mount, these LG Thrill accessories also double as a navigation system.
